Who knew that Gabi would be ousted as the youngest in our family so quickly?
(Well, God did of course.. but we sure didn't!)
Today brought a great visit with the new little guy... we won't be sharing anything about why he came or where he's from, but God definitely has done "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Eph. 3:20) in all of this.
He has gone way above and beyond, beyond, beyond over and over again in this situation.
And we're floored. Shell-shocked. Excited. Ready. Willing. Humbled. Game. Thankful.
Our first matter of business as we welcome this little sweetie into our family is to work toward a speedy bond and attachment between him and us. Here's what this may look like:
Jeremy and I will not be passing him around, we need him to trust us and know that we are his parents and caretakers.
We will be spending a lot of time at home, making our world small for him.
We plan to attend church, but he will not be in the nursery for some time until he is bonded to us.
We will be spending a lot of time sitting on the floor playing with babies. Sounds like bliss to me! I've been preparing myself these last two weeks for the putting aside of my own plans during the times they're awake and focusing on making sure Gabi is secure that her mama still treasures her and forming a strong bond with little Mr. Cutie Pants.
Now it's on to share Gabi's first sprinkler experience on a recent sunny day... since this is her last day being our youngest, I thought it was fitting.
Do you want to go in the sprinker with me? C'mom, you'll love it! Let's go!
No really, it's fun! C'mon!!!
Gabi, I'll go with you.. let's go!
You guys are nuts, I'm outta here!!! Getting sprayed by cold water in the face is not my idea of fun!
Okay, let's go see Mama.
Maybe if I super glue myself to Mama, I'll be safe from that sprinkler.
