Babies Don't Keep
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
( lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
( pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
and out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
but I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
( lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

North Carolina in July?
You may remember a few weeks back, that I was trying to win a scholarship to the She Speaks Conference held in North Carolina near the end of July where I'd be attending the Writing Tract. Well, I didn't win a scholarship. But am still feeling the desire and the Lord's leading to go! My good buddy Anne-Renee and I are planning to attend together, and we got ready to find out all of the registration information only to find out that it is already FULL. I was stunned and disappointed!
But we found out we're not too far back on the wait list (I was #41), and they said they are trying to make room for everyone to attend... so we're making plans to go in faith! But that means I need to raise approximately $1,500. In 2 months. If God wants me to go, I know it'll happen so I'm not worried. And I can always save the money I've raised this year to go the next year if we don't get a spot in the conference.
So here goes! I've got a couple fundraising ideas in mind, but if you've got any good ones let me know. I'm all garage saled out. We held the garage sale of our lives less than a year ago to help fund our adoption, and I'm in no hurry to re-create that in the near future. But if I get desperate, I may pull a last minute one in July!
What the $1,500 will go towards:
$425 for conference registration and food
$200 for a shared hotel room for the weekend
$400 - $875 for airfare to get us into Charlotte, NC - our mileage tickets will only be able to take us so far.. and we'll need to buy a ticket to get us there in addition to our miles. I also may need to buy more miles, it's looking like it won't be a 25,000 mileage ticket trip.
I'm hoping I won't need that much $$$$ for airfare, but am planning accordingly now.
That's it in a nutshell... praying it works out this year!

Happy Birthday, dear husband.
Today Jeremy turns 35! Happy Birthday to him! Wow, how the years go by.
I knew of Jeremy through the years as a teenager, but we went to different high schools in the same district. My parents were friends with his parents, but the two families never got together. We were officially introduced once by my sister in the spring of my high school graduation, but it was from far away and we yelled our hellos to each other. Then we were set-up by Jeremy's best buddy from birth the following fall when Jeremy was 19 and I was 18... and the rest is history! 16 years later, you are still the funny and handsome man I fell in love with.
We all love you and so appreciate you. You are a committed man of God, husband, and father - what more could we ask for?
I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 1 Cor. 1:4

the simplest things
entertaining herself with toys
on a blanket, make me so thankful
I'm home and not missing all this.
with a bright green thumb
planting you your very
own herb garden lifts the spirits
when you do dishes.
some beautiful plant starts as well.
