On Friday, we woke up to blue skies and the hope of a warm day, so as we lay in bed that morning we declared it was a day to drive to a quaint and small touristy town called Talkeetna! It was the first time we'd ever been to there as a family. Crazy, since the drive is under 2 hours for us, and it was so much fun. Our boys declared that we should stay for a month or at least come back often.

Happy one month home, Little Man!!
This day was the hottest so far this summer to me... it was GLORIOUS!
Of course we all had to get our picture taken with the moose, but I wasn't about to unbuckle the babies for their chance since we'd just gotten started out of the car. But I know they would have been SO cute!
Remedy for a hot day?
Cheap ice cream cones for the kiddos.
The river park was a fun place to stop and cool off halfway through our day...
And on the way out of town, we had to stop at their wonderful park.
Seriously, this is the best park we've ever been to. Our town has one really similar, but it isn't as detailed, nor does it have a really cool toddler area with a sandbox and a whole row of baby swings. Fun!! It's almost worth the drive just for the park!
By the time we got to the park around 3pm, Little Man and Gabi were functioning on about 15 min.. of sleep all day... so once we got there we made Little Man his bottle and he fed himself in his carseat since we knew he'd fall fast asleep and would hopefully stay that way for the whole drive home.
As you can see from his super sweaty head, it was hot! And we were even parked in the shade and had all but one of the doors open in the van while we stopped to play.
It was a great day, and I think we'll make it a summer roadtrip tradition.
